Brian Roff is a director and producer based in Brooklyn. Most recently, he directed a workshop of Milk and Gall by Mathilde Dratwa with Zoe Kazan at LAByrinth Theater Company. He produced Dear Darkness (New Ohio Theater), a collection of new short plays by writers including Bekah Brunstetter, Halley Feiffer, Michael Puzzo, and John Patrick Shanley—in addition, he directed the plays by Halley Feiffer and Michael Puzzo. Other recent directing credits include The Puppetmaster of Lodz by Gilles Segal (Berkshire Theater Festival), Dutch Masters by Greg Keller (Berkshire Theater Festival & LAByrinth Theater Company), Ceremony by Mark Schultz (Rising Phoenix Rep), What Happened When by Daniel Talbott (HERE), Crazy Little Thing by Melissa Ross (Center Stage), and The Claiming Race by Robert Glaudini (Theater for a New City). He has directed many developmental readings and workshops by writers including Stephen Belber, Mathilde Dratwa, Halley Feiffer, Amy Fox, Robert Glaudini, Jon Jiler, Greg Keller, Frank Pugliese, Tommy Smith, Ben Snyder, and Brian Watkins. Brian also wrote and directed the annual Celebrity Charades benefit for LAByrinth Theater Company (2003-2015) where celebrities play charades against each other, raising up to $600K annually—players have included Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, Michael Shannon, and Robin Williams. For Celebrity Charades, he wrote and directed short films shown at the event featuring Eric Bogosian, Josh Charles, Billy Crudup, Richard Kind, Justin Long, Sam Rockwell, Kristen Wiig, and others. He was assistant director to Philip Seymour Hoffman on four plays including The Little Flower of East Orange (Public Theater), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Public Theater), and Our Lady of 121st Street (Union Square Theatre), all by Stephen Adly Guirgis. He is a member of Rising Phoenix Rep and LAByrinth Theater Company and a graduate of Amherst College.
